Marcos-Duterte tandem maintains lead in Pulse Asia survey

Running mates Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and Sara Duterte maintained their leads in Pulse Asia's latest pre-election survey.

Marcos enjoyed a significant lead from other presidential candidates by having the support of 60% of the respondents.

He also leads in all geographical areas, including the National Capital Region (57%), Luzon (61%), Visayas (53%), and Mindanao (66%). The former senator also remained the frontrunner in terms of socio-economic groups, including Classes C (50%), D (61%), and E (56%).

Vice President Leni Robredo came the poll's second place after garnering 16% of the respondent's votes.

"The Vice-President posts double-digit voter preferences across geographic areas and socio-economic classes (16% to 19% and 16% to 18%, respectively), with Mindanao being the exception (8%)," the survey read.

Senator Manny Pacquiao and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno both posted eight percent each, while Senator Panfilo Lacson had four percent.

Faisal Mangondato received 0.3% of the votes, former presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella had 0.05%, while labor leader Leody De Guzman had 0.02%.

"Former Department of National Defense Secretary Norberto Gonzales and Dr. Jose Montemayor, Jr. receive essentially no support from the country’s electorate," the survey said.

Two percent of the respondents remain undecided, while those who refused to identify and those who are not inclined to vote for any candidate posted one percent each.

Meanwhile, Moreno emerged on top as the second-preferred choice for presidency with 24% of the respondents' votes. Second place went to Lacson and Pacquiao with 14% each, followed by Robredo with 13%, and then Marcos with 10%.

For vice president, Davao Mayor Sara Duterte came out on top of the rest of the candidates with 50% of the respondents voting to support her.

This was followed by Senate President Vicente Sotto III with 29%, Senator Kiko Pangilinan with 11%, Dr. Willie Ong with five percent, and then former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza with one percent.

In terms of second choice, Sotto emerged on top with 35% of the respondents, followed by Duterte with 15%, Pangilinan with 14%, Ong with 11%, and then Atienza with three percent.

The survey, which was held from January 19 to 24, was carried out among 2,400 adults through face-to-face interviews.

Marcos and Duterte maintained their leads from the previous Pulse Asia survey, which was held last December 1 to 6.
