President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. tasked the Department of Agriculture (DA) to facilitate the immediate delivery of support to farmers to prevent any delays during the planting season.
“There should be no significant delays to the implementation of agri-support to farmers,” Marcos told the DA during the meeting with the administration’s economic managers at the Malacañang on Monday.
Additionally, the President instructed the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to be also mindful of the planting season and ensure that the agriculture sector receives adequate support and prioritization.
The President then emphasized the need for the DBM to ensure timely financial support for the agriculture sector.
Furthermore, the DA highlighted that providing adequate support in fertilizers, quality seeds, and technology will enable farmers to increase yields and maximize productivity across different ecosystems.
By ensuring the timely delivery of seeds and fertilizers, adequate support helps farmers plant on time and achieve the best possible harvest outcomes.
The DA also stated that higher rice production promotes job creation across the entire value chain, benefiting farm laborers, transporters, millers, and traders, which in turn stimulates rural economies.
