An unauthorized 24-year-old man was apprehended on Thursday, July 30, at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 for entering a restricted pre-departure area and causing alarm for other travelers waiting for their flights.
According to the Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP), the suspect, who was not a passenger, was spotted inside the pre-departure area behaving suspiciously, reportedly following and staring at several travelers.
A concerned passenger initially reported the man’s behavior to aviation security personnel.
In response, upon questioning by the Lockheed Security Agency and Quickstar Security Agency, the man failed to provide a valid reason for being in the restricted area and was unable to present a boarding pass or any travel documents.
Authorities noted that he appeared visibly uneasy and nervous, further raising suspicion.
"Due to his unauthorized entry into a secured area, he was charged with trespassing, and his disturbing conduct that caused public alarm warranted a charge of alarm and scandal," PNP AVSEGROUP wrote in a statement.
The man was placed under Citizen’s Arrest by authorities and turned over to NAIA Police Station 3 for further investigation and proper legal action.
Meanwhile, Director of the PNP AVSEGROUP, PBGEN Jason L. Capoy, praised the swift and coordinated response to the incident.
