The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Friday issued an order suspending the operations of 27 Victory Liner buses plying the Cubao and Baguio routes for one month.

In the order, the LTFRB said the suspension was imposed following the vehicular accident which involved a Victory Liner bus coming from Baguio City and heading westbound on January 3.

The said incident resulted in the death of two passengers and injured 20 others after the bus’ right rear tires blew out along Aspiras Highway, Barangay Cares in Pugo, La Union.

"The board, in the exercise of its regulatory powers pursuant to Sec. 5, Par. (b) of Executive Order No. 202 and Sec. 16, Par. (n) of the Public Servant Act, hereby PREVENTIVELY SUSPENDS for not more than 30 days effective immediately upon receipt hereof,” the order reads.

The LTFRB directed Victory Liner Inc. to surrender the for-hire plates of the bus units it has specifically named in the order to its legal division.

It also instructed the bus operator company to submit an explanation why its Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) should not be suspended, canceled, and/or revoked for violation of the terms and conditions of its franchises.

Victory Liner Inc. was also instructed to appear before the board at 10 am on January 24 in the agency's hearing room.

"The transport inspectors of this board and other traffic enforcement agencies are ordered to apprehend and impound the above PUB units if found operating as public utility vehicles," the LFTRB said.
