LRTA announces delay in LRT-2 operations after lightning strikes 'catenary wire'
by Mary Antalan16 September 2024
The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) announced on Monday, September 16, that LRT-2 operations will experience delays due to the repair of a catenary wire at Gilmore Station.
In an advisory, the LRTA stated that the catenary wire was struck by lightning. However, the maintenance team could not begin repairs immediately due to consecutive lightning strikes.
The team targets to restore operations before 6:00 AM.
A catenary wire is an overhead system used to supply electricity to trains, trams, or other electric-powered rail vehicles.
