The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) is giving free rides to all Filipino seafarers in Light Rail Transit Terminal 2 (LRT-2) on Tuesday, June 25, as a gesture of solidarity for the Day of the Filipino Seafarer.
In an advisory, the LRTA said the free riders will take effect from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
The passenger only needs to present his Seafarer's Record Book (SRB), Seafarer’s Identification Booklet (SIB), or Seafarer Identity Document (SID) to avail of the free rides.
"Ang libreng sakay ay tugon ng LRTA sa hiling ng Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) para kilalanin ang hindi matatawarang kontribusyon ng mga Pilipinong Marino sa international trade at pagpapaunlad ng ekonomiya ng Pilipinas," the LRTA said.
Meanwhile, LRTA Administrator, Atty. Hernando Cabrera expressed his admiration for Filipino seafarers for their unwavering efforts for the development of the maritime industry.
"Ito pong libreng sakay sa LRT-2 para sa mga Pilipino Marino ay pasasalamat natin sa kanilang sakripisyo at ambag para maunlad ang maritime sector. Saludo po ang LRTA sa mga magigiting nating Marino," Cabrera remarked.
