A content creator on short-form video platform Tiktok posted videos of himself candidly violating Light Rail Transit (LRT) rules, which the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) criticized.
In one video, Tiktoker Trionkwentos can be seen in the LRT Line 2 coming from Santolan Station, arranging a romantic dining set-up with candles, glassware, and napkins. He is assisted by one other person, who, apparently playing at being a waiter, serves him a chocolate cake bar; it is then fed to a stranger seated next to Trionkwentos.
The video, titled “random train dates,” was released on August 28.
He produced two more videos with the same premise, although in the third and last one, he was told off by a guard.
Many of the comments called him out for his impropriety, citing rules against eating in the train for one, which did not seem to bother the Tiktoker.
“Bawal kumain sa train (Eating on the train is not allowed),” one viewer said, to which the Tiktoker responded, “Hirap mo po pasayahin (You’re so hard to please).”
Trionkwentos also encouraged others to do the same.
“Ma-try nga sa MRT (I should try this in the MRT),” another comment reads.
“Sa LRT po para malawak (Do it in the LRT so it's spacious),” he replied with a smiley emoji.
“Dapat ganito ano po (It should be like this),” said another viewer.
“Yes kuya gawin mo din po ito (Yes kuya do this too),” was Trionkwentos’ response.
The video has made rounds on social media, and has come to the Light Rail Transit Authority’s (LRTA) attention. They put forth a statement clarifying these videos were made without authorization.
“The Light Rail Transit (LRTA) would like to clarify that the videos titled “Random Train Date” uploaded by @TrionKwentos, were created without proper authorization or clearance from the LRTA management. Such activities are strictly prohibited on LRTA premises and facilities,” it reads.
LRTA administrator Hernando Cabrera said other passengers could have gotten hurt.
“Anytime kasi pwedeng mag-activate yung emergency brake natin o biglang mag-sudden stop o mag-decrease suddenly yung speed natin, magliliparan yun … ‘Yung baso pwedeng tumilapon, tatama sa pasahero,” Cabrera said. “Kumain pa, bawal din yun.”
(Anytime, the emergency brakes could be activated, or the LRT could make a sudden stop, or the speed could suddenly decrease, those things will go flying … The glasses could hit a passenger. They ate too, that's also prohibited.)
He added that the rest of the passengers’ privacy would be compromised, and they may complain.
“We urge content creators to act responsibly by respecting their fellow passengers and adhering to the LRTA safety and security regulations. Safety and consideration for others should always be our priority when using our Train services. The LRTA reserves the right to take appropriate action against individuals who violate safety and security guidelines,” the LRTA stated.
