The American singer-rapper, Jay Park, just announced that he will be bringing his “Serenades & Body Rolls” world tour to Manila!
In a social media post on Monday, March 31, the Seoul-based musician unveiled the tour dates for the Asian, Australian, and New Zealand leg of his tour.
Jay’s “Serenades & Body Rolls” tour in Manila is slated for June 28 at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.
As of writing, ticketing details have yet to be announced.
In his world tour’s prologue video on YouTube, Jay said that a tour or concert fan artist is a way for them to give back to fans and give them the experience of singing along to their songs live.
He recalled putting off releasing music of his own in the past, adding that he used to make music because he had something to prove. However, his perspective shifted eventually, and he said that he now thinks of finding ways to show the real Jay Park.
“When I had a chip on my shoulder, even though the fans were important, I had something to prove. So I wasn’t thinking about the fans when I was making music. I was thinking about like “how do I show people the real Jay Park?” he said.
The further he gets into his career, the more thankful he becomes for the fans that stuck with him ever since.
“They’ve stuck with me through all the thick and thin. That’s why this year, I have to put out the album, I have to do the fan meets, I have to do the music programs because that’s what the fans wanted, right?” he said.
The musician rose to fame as a member of the K-pop group 2 PM from 2008 to 2010. He later pursued a solo career after being entangled in a controversy about his past online comments about the K-Pop industry and South Korea.
However, the “McNasty” singer bounced back and transitioned from K-pop to R&B and hip-hop. He soon founded the independent hip-hop record label, AOMG (Above Ordinary Music Group) and H1GHR MUSIC.
The “Serenades & Body Rolls” world tour will kick off in Seoul starting May, and will eventually fly to other Asian cities like Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Jakarta, Singapore, Kanawaga, and Osaka.
