Among Liam Payne’s family and friends at the star’s private funeral were his old bandmates from boyband One Direction.
Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik were gathered at St. Mary’s Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, with Payne’s parents, his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, and his former partner Rachel Tweedy, with whom he shared a son.
There were some fans in attendance as well, kept behind a cordon.
A white hearse drawn by a pair of white horses brought Payne’s coffin to the ceremony. Atop the hearse were floral arrangements spelling “Daddy” and “Son.”
Payne died of a fall from a third-story balcony, suffering “multiple traumas” and “internal and external hemorrhaging.”
Investigators said he was alone at the time of his fall, and was apparently “going through an episode of substance abuse.” Various substances like cocaine were found in his system.
Payne’s family has said they were “heartbroken” over his sudden death. His former One Direction bandmates said the news “completely devastated” them.
