Several lawmakers on Friday commended President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. for his "impressive" job as he marks his first 100 days in the office on October 8.
Marcos received both 'good job' and 'great job' from Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and House Speaker Ferdinand Romualdez.
"He is doing a good job. He jumpstarted it with Cabinet meetings on daily basis, he is the best salesman of the country. During PGMA’s term, napakaraming investors na pumasok sa eco zones pero after that, wala nang pumasok [na mga investor]," Zubiri said in a statement.
Zubiri also credited Marcos' effort as the Philippines is slowly running up with other countries when it comes to foreign investments.
His cousin, Romualdez, also praised the Chief Executive for his "great and wonderful job in engaging our friends in the international community whereby foreign direct investments would be coming."
"Singapore being the number one source of foreign direct investments, we have seen so much enthusiasm and they welcome his Presidency and his Administration," he added.
Malacañang said that President Marcos secured US$ 3.9 billion worth of business agreements and commitments which is expected to generate 112,285 jobs, during his visit to the United States from September 18 to September 24.
President Marcos also said that he secured US$ 14.36 billion worth of investments during his visits to Singapore and Indonesia.
Former president and now Senior Deputy Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo also gave her assesment on Marcos' first 100 days.
As an economist, Arroyo said Marcos' economic team is impressive in facing the effects of the global tension between Ukraine and Taiwan.
"I think a president’s first 100 days serves twp purposes: first, to give the nation and the world a message to inspire confidence relative to the area of greatest concern; and second, to give the Filipino people an idea of the leadership style of the president,” Arroyo said in a statement Wednesday.
“In President Marcos, Jr.’s case, in the wake of the pandemic and global tensions in Ukraine and Taiwan, the adverse economic impact of these crises is topmost on most minds," she added.
She also praised the President's "calm and thouthful" demeanor as a leader.
"For the second purpose –again, the President has projected himself well as a calm, thoughtful leader who is true to his promise to promote unity and be a president for all,” Arroyo added.
President Marcos will be marking his first 100 days on Saturday since he was inaugurated as the 17th President of the Philippines on June 30, 2022.
