Labor Sec. Bienvenido Laguesma promised to review the minimum wage rates in every region after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. gave the order during Labor Day.
In a speech last Wednesday, May 1, in Malacanang, President directed all of the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) to conduct a timely review of their minimum wage rates within 60 days prior to the anniversary of their latest wage order.
"Titiyakin ko na itong direktiba ay susundin and will be carried out," promised Laguesma, who also chairs the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), on Thursday, May 2, during DZRH's Breaktime.
During his speech, President Marcos also told the NWPC to ensure that RTWBs can 'maintain a regular and predictable schedule of wage review, issuance, and effectivity to reduce uncertainty and enhance fairness for all stakeholders'.
Laguesma assured that NWPC will immediately convene to review existing guidelines, rules and policies regarding minimum wage.
