The National Capital Region (NCR) wage board has approved a ₱50 daily minimum wage increase for all minimum wage earners in Metro Manila.

This was confirmed by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma on Monday, noting that around 1.2 million minimum wage earners are expected to benefit from the increase.

"The increase, which was unanimously approved by the NCR Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) through Wage Order No. 26, is the highest ever granted by the NCR wage board," DOLE said in a statement.

With the increase, the minimum wage will rise from ₱645 to ₱695 for the non-agricultural sector, and from ₱608 to ₱658 for the following sectors: agriculture; service and retail establishments employing 15 workers or fewer; and manufacturing establishments regularly employing less than 10 workers.

DOLE stated that the wage increase will take effect on July 18.
