Senatorial candidate JV Ejercito on Sunday disowned the circulating video online that showed alleged members of his team taking down posters of running-mates Leni Robredo and Francis Pangilinan.
The video showed that these men replaced the Robredo-Pangilinan posters with ones bearing Ejercito's face.
In response, the senatorial candidate disowned the individuals in the video and said the posters that were being put up to replace the tandem posters were not his official ones.
"I condemn the act of removing another candidate's poster [particularly] Leni-Kiko to be replaced with 'my own' poster," he said on Twitter.
"My campaign team disowns this as the posters used were not our official posters. This is not in our character," he added.
In a previous tweet, Ejercito said he has nothing to gain by removing the posters of Robredo-Pangilinan, citing that they were not even his competition for Senate.
"Ano po ang mapapala ko sa pagtanggal ng posters ng Leni-Kiko? Hindi naman po ako ang kalaban nila di po ba?"
(What will I gain from removing the Leni-Kiko posters? I am not their enemy, right?)
The candidate added that he respects Robredo even if they were not on the same side in the polls.
"Maayos pakikitungo ko kay VP [Robredo], kahit magkaiba ng panig mula't sapul at siya po ay siguradong sasang-ayon," he said.
(I have a good relationship with VP [Robredo] even if we come from different sides and I’m sure she will agree with this.)
Ejercito, who is eyeing a Senate comeback for the 2022 polls, is running under the Nationalist People's Coalition. He is one of the candidates endorsed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
