Thousands of job seekers crowded the M.I.C.E. Center in Quezon City for its annual Labor Day Job Fair on Thursday, May 1.
RH 5 Val Gonzales reported on the same day that thousands of applicants gathered at the location, hoping to find new jobs. Moreover, most of the individuals who attended the fair were fresh graduates.
This year, the Quezon City Government allotted 11,000 job vacancies, with approximately 100 participating private companies and government agencies from various industries and sectors.
For people’s convenience, the local government also set up a one-stop shop for job requirements like SSS, PAG-IBIG, PhilHealth, and PSA for the national ID. Representatives from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are also present to provide individuals with the needed requirements or clearance forms.
Meanwhile, the report stated that some applicants were also hired by the companies they applied for on the spot.
The local government reminds applicants to bring multiple copies of their updated resume, valid IDs, and 2X2 photos. Job seekers are also asked to dress professionally for on-the-spot interviews.
Free resume printing services are also provided in the venue.
The job fair will run until 5 PM today, and is open to everyone, including those who are not from Quezon City.
“Through this job fair, we are delivering on our commitment to create a city where every resident has access to decent, meaningful work. In Quezon City, we believe that employment is not just a livelihood—it is empowerment, dignity, and a pathway to a better future,” Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a press release on Wednesday.
