Filipina athlete Islay Erika Bomogao has claimed the title of world No. 1 in the 45-kilogram female elite category of the International Federation of Muay Thai Associations (IFMA) rankings.
The Philippine Sports Commission confirmed this achievement in a social media post, where they congratulated Bomogao on her remarkable feat.
Bomogao's ascent to the top was fueled by her recent victory over Australia's Sarah Kwa, whom she defeated by unanimous decision earlier in August in Kenwick, Australia.
This crucial win contributed significantly to her 1,290 points, enabling her to secure the top spot in her division.
With this accomplishment, Bomogao has overtaken Vietnam's Hieu Huynh, who holds 1,560 points, establishing herself as the leading competitor in the global Muay Thai arena.
