

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday, August 25, congratulated tennis star Alex Eala for her historic victory at the US Open in New York, calling the young athlete an inspiration to the Filipino people.
In a statement online, the President lauded Eala’s performance and expressed confidence that her triumph is just the beginning of greater achievements in her career.
“She’s only getting started! Congratulations, [Alex]! Kasama mo ang buong Pilipinas sa bawat laban mo. Sama-sama naming isisigaw sa mundo ang galing ng Pilipino!” Marcos said.
Eala made history after defeating world no. 14 Clara Tauson of Denmark in the first round of the prestigious tournament, marking a milestone in Philippine tennis.
The President said Eala’s victory brings pride and honor to the country and serves as a reminder of the global potential of Filipino athletes.
