Isko Moreno: "It's a good decision to run"
by Christhel Cuazon07 May 2022

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso believes that his decision to run for president is a "good decision," citing how the 2022 elections turned out to be the extension of the long war between the reds and yellows.

In an interview with DZRH, Moreno said his visits to far-flung areas of the country solidified his intention to win the upcoming polls.

"Pinagtibay ng nakita ko sa probinsya na talaga palang marami taong kababayan sa far-flung areas na nagpakakaitan ng proyekto ng gobyerno, at the very least, hindi nalilingon o nakikita," he said.

"With that journey, now I know na may awa ang Diyos kung saan ko gagamitin iyong pera ng gobyerno. Kung saan ko itutuon," he added.

Moreno had previously admitted to keeping some P50.8 million in leftover campaign funds from his failed Senate run in 2016.

Moreno also reiterated his calls to be the other option besides the dominating rivals: former senator Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. and Vice President Leni Robredo.

"Ang napansin ko kasi ngayon eleksyon, lagi nalang pinag-uusapan iyong 1986 revolution. Pula at dilaw, it is always that way. So ako feeling ko nakakapagod naman na," he said.

"While it is true that we give value to what happened in 1986 revolution dahil also masa iyon because somebody took over the revolution and made a promise... ng pagbabago," he continued.

In 2022, Moreno said people are still looking for the change and he is offering himself as an alternative to the reds and yellows.

"Feeling ko panahon na para matuldukan ang away ng pula at dilaw. That is why, sabi ko, let's give it a try," Moreno quipped.

"Ang paniwala ko if one of them will win the election, halimbawa kung binoto natin pula, we will respect that, we will respect the democracy and recognize it and support but the thing is the yellows will not take it sitting down," he added.

This could lead to a banana republic or a country without stability, Moreno stated.

"At the same manner, on the other side, if given a chance iyong yellow-pink naman mananalo, maghihiganti naman sa pula. Magihiganti kay Duterte because there's too much hate," Moreno said.

This is not the first time that Moreno presented himself as another option for voters in the upcoming polls.
