The Police Regional Office-1 and Ilocos Norte Provincial Police Office are investigating the reported incident of violence inside the Pasuquin Municipal Police Station.

PRO-1 Regional Director PBGen. Lou Evangelista ordered an investigation after reports of alleged abuse by some police officers went viral.

"A viral video of police officers from Pasuquin Municipal Police Station in Ilocos Norte who were allegedly engaged in acts of violence against individuals inside the police station has raised significant concern and outrage among the public," Evangelista said in an official statement on Monday.

"I have already ordered the immediate validation and investigation of facts surrounding the incident. Any violation of the PNP rules and standards committed by police officers, once proven, will be addressed with utmost seriousness," he added.

The official appealed to the public to remain patient and allow a fair investigation to take place. He guaranteed that the Philippine National Police (PNP) will prioritize transparency and will issue updates as the investigation progresses.

Evangelista then emphasized that individuals found guilty of abuse of authority will be held liable.

In a separate statement, the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office clarified that they do not tolerate any form of abuse of authority, as shown in the viral video.

"This matter is currently under investigation, and appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings to ensure transparency to the public," the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office said in their statement.

"We assure that the INPPO leadership upholds professionalism and accountability in law enforcement. Any abuse of authority or irregularities will not be tolerated," they added.

Based on a viral post on social media, the stepfather of the poster requested help from police officers after being assaulted by an unidentified assailant.

However, instead of receiving help, the victim reportedly endured more physical abuse, while the police also detained his companions, including a 14-year-old.
