The House of Representatives has not yet accepted the impeachment complaint filed against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday.
Former National Youth Commission Chairperson Ronald Cardema and his wife, former Congresswoman Marie Cardema, are set to return to the House of Representatives on Tuesday to refile the impeachment complaint.
Cardema explained that the Office of the Secretary General did not accept their complaint as House Secretary General Reginald Velasco was not present at the time.
Under House rules, the impeachment complaint must be formally received by Secretary General Reginald Velasco for it to be officially recognized by Congress.
The complaint alleges that Marcos violated provisions under Article XI, Sections 2 and 3 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution—covering the accountability of public officers—as well as the Rules of Procedure in Impeachment Proceedings.
Moreover, the complaint implicates Marcos in the alleged decision to allow the transfer of former President Duterte’s custody to foreign authorities.
The impeachment complaint filed by the Cardema couple was formally endorsed by Representative Drixie Mae Cardema of the Duterte Youth Party-list.
