President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. turned emotional in the teaser of his upcoming podcast episode, expressing frustration over what he described as the undeserved suffering of ordinary people.
This comes amid the ongoing Senate and House investigations into alleged anomalies in government flood control projects.
In a podcast teaser released on Saturday, Vicky Morales asked the President why he is teary-eyed.
Marcos replied, “Yes, because I’m very upset. No, because I see people having a hard time. And they don’t deserve it. Mabuti nga kung masamang tao yan. Dapat parusahan. Hindi naman eh. Walang ginawa yan kundi magtrabaho. Kundi mahalin ang pamilya. Ba’t mo paparusahan? Para magpayaman ka? That makes no sense to me.”
Flood Control Probes
The President’s comments surfaced as the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee and the House of Representatives holds separate inquiries into alleged anomalies in flood control projects, including reports of “ghost projects” and corruption involving contractors and government officials.
Senator Rodante Marcoleta earlier urged contractors to name the masterminds behind the questionable projects, while Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin later challenged lawmakers to “clean your house first” amid allegations that some members of Congress were themselves involved.
Public clamor has grown for accountability, with expectations that both lawmakers and contractors implicated in the projects will be held responsible.
