Senator Risa Hontiveros has formally asked Justice Secretary Crispin 'Boying' Remulla to issue an immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy.
In her letter dated Dec. 13 but released to the media on Dec. 14, Hontiveros informed Remulla about her filed Senate Resolution No. 884 which urges the Senate committee to conduct a legislative inquiry into the "reported cases of human trafficking, rape, sexual abuse, and violence, and child abuse allegedly" perpetuated by the KOJC under Quiboloy's leadership.
"I am intending to set the hearing date on 23 January 2024, during which the Committee will require the presence of Mr. Quiboloy. In the interest of justice and due process, it is my strong desire to ensure that he will be physically present in the Senate for the hearing," she said.
"For this reason, I respectfully request your good department to issue an immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) so that he will be in the Philippines during the hearing date," the Senator added.
Hontiveros said she look forward to the support of the Justice Secretary.
In a press conference last Tuesday, Dec. 12, the Senator presented video testimonies of two former KOJC members — a certain Arlene and alias Jackson.
According to Arlene, she was only 15 years old when she became part of the religious group's "inner circle" wherein they are all obliged to serve the KOJC leader.
The victim-survivor said she and her sister were forced to beg for money and solicit from strangers.
"Pinapapanggap po kami na mga pipi at bingi at mga fake student po. May dala-dala kami na iba't ibang association para kami po ay lumikom ng pera," she recalled.
Jackson, meanwhile, recounted how they were hardly paddled for not meeting the required quota of collected funds.
