The Malacañang on Friday assured the public that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. remains in good health, following the circulation of a viral video showing his gums bleeding while he was delivering a speech.
In a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro claimed that the video was being intentionally spread, possibly to create the impression that the President is in poor health.
The viral clip shows President Marcos during his speech at the Paggunita sa mga Bayani sa Araw ng Kagitingan and Comprehensive Social Benefits Program ceremony in Quezon City on April 9, where his gums seemingly began to bleed as he spoke.
Castro then appealed to so-called "fake news peddlers" not to spread false narratives about the President’s health, stressing that such actions are harmful to the country.
Instead, she urged the public to pray for the good health of the country’s leaders and to refrain from making unfounded speculations, noting that some individuals act like doctors on social media despite lacking medical expertise.
