The Little Mermaid actress Halle Bailey and her boyfriend, YouTuber and rapper DDG, have parted ways.
DDG, also known as Daryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., announced the split in an Instagram story posted on Thursday, October 3.
“Dear friends and supporters, After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. The decision was not easy, but we believe it's the best part forward for both of us. I cherish the time we've spent together and the love we shared,” he wrote.
He said they are still “best friends” who “adore” and love each other. The two are focusing on their own paths and on co-parenting.
“We cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared,” DDG said. “As we navigate this transition, we ask for your understanding and support. Thank you for your love and encouragement.”
The couple brought their relationship out in the open in August 2022, after which Bailey confessed she was “for sure” in love with DDG. In a September/October 2022 cover story, she spoke of having grown up watching YouTube and being inspired by its young Black creators, the “I’m Geekin” rapper being one of them.
“I completely forgot about him. But then I saw that he was dropping music, and I really gravitated toward this one song. Coincidentally he messaged me — and the rest is history,” she told Essence.
