In response to the devastation caused by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine in the Visayas and Bicol regions, the FPJ Panday Bayanihan Partylist has mobilized relief efforts to assist affected communities.
The partylist, known for its 11-year dedication to helping impoverished and disaster-stricken areas, has been actively providing food and other essentials to those in need.
On Thursday, local volunteers from the FPJ Panday Bayanihan delivered hundreds of food packs to Catbalogan, Samar, one of the hardest-hit areas. The partylist has also announced that relief operations are being prepared for the Bicol region, which has faced severe damage, particularly in Albay and Camarines Sur.
Dr. Brian Poe Llamanzares, the partylist’s first nominee, praised the volunteers for their dedication.
"Salute to our volunteers; please stay safe while helping our kababayans," he said in a statement, emphasizing the importance of safety in relief efforts.
According to reports, Typhoon Kristine caused widespread flooding and landslides in several provinces. The areas of Albay and Camarines Sur were particularly hard-hit, with extensive damage reported to homes and infrastructure.
Northern Samar, especially Catanduanes and the northern parts of the province, also suffered significant impacts.
Kristine is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday. However, PAGASA's forecast reports that there is a possibility Kristine may re-enter the PAR.
