The House Quad Committee postponed their scheduled hearing on Thursday, October 24, on extrajudicial killings (EJKs), to give way for the ongoing relief operations.
According to Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, they have decided to postpone the hearing, so that the House can prioritize the relief and assistance operations for the victims of severe tropical storm Kristine.
Other co-chairmen from the Committee also urged other Congress officials to help and assist the operations in their respective areas.
The Php 411 million relief aid released on Wednesday, October 23, by the House of Representatives was part of a large-scale operation to assist those who are severely affected by STS Kristine.
Additionally, Php 390 million worth of cash aid will be distributed to the 22 districts in the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and MIMAROPA.
The House assured that the funds would go directly towards the recovery of the affected communities.
