

Floods hit several areas in Metro Manila cities on Thursday, August 31, amidst the continuous pour of rains due to the southwest monsoon, enhanced by Severe Tropical Storm Hanna and Super Typhoon Saola.
The state weather bureau issued an orange rainfall warning in Metro Manila, Bataan, and Zambales at 5:57 AM, and had warned against heavy rain, flooding, and possible landslides.
MANILA
The United Nations (UN) Avenue in Taft, Manila got submerged in rain-induced floods which caused difficulty for vehicles to pass by.
In a report by RH Boy Gonzales, one BMW vehicle broke down while traversing the UV Avenue.
In Fugoso Street in Sta. Cruz, the flood has reached half knee level.

Floods also swamped Tayuman Street in Tondo and Padre Faura Street in Ermita.
But despite the flood, jeepney and tricycle drivers continued on with their trips without a hitch.

MARIKINA CITY
In Marikina City, the overflowing Marikina river caused floods in nearby areas.
According to RH Edniel Parrosa, two cars submerged due to the high level of water.

In an interview, one resident reported that one male got drowned in the Marikina river at around 3:20 PM.
“Nakita lang namin. May mga kasama siya. Nalulunod na at humihingi na siya ng tulong,” he recounted.
“Naabutan naman pero pagdating ng Malanday, doon na siya lumubog,” the resident added.

As of 3 PM, the Marikina Public Information Office (PIO) reported that Marikina river’s water level is at 15.8 meters above the sea level.
Local authorities raised the first alarm at past six in the morning.
QUEZON CITY
In a report by Val Gonzales, the rain-induced flood caused a knee-level deep in Sto. Domingo Ave.
