The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cautioned the public from purchasing and using a certain unregistered sunblock product this summer season, warning about its potential risk when used.

In an advisory, the FDA said no valid certificate of product notification was granted to Perfect Skin All Naturals Sunblock Gel Cream SPF 45, hence its quality and safety cannot be assured.

"The use of such violative product may pose health risks to consumers. Potential hazards may come from ingredients that are not allowed to be part of a cosmetic product or from the contamination of heavy metals," it said.

According to the FDA, the use of the aforementioned sunblock can cause skin irritation, itchiness, anaphylactic shock, and organ failure.

The agency advises the public to always check if a product is FDA-approved through its official website, and report its illegal sale through email [email protected] and call 8857-1900 loc. 8113 or 8107.
