The Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched the PNP MC Ligtas SUMVAC 2025 Operational Guidelines as a framework for the implementation of heightened security and order nationwide in preparation for the upcoming summer season.
As the summer vacation period nears, the PNP points out that it will also coincide with important events such as Philippine Veterans Week, Araw ng Kagitingan, Labor Day, Flores de Mayo, and Holy Week, which runs from April 13 to April 20.
This is expected to lead to an influx of travelers, balikbayans, and tourists in public areas, transport terminals, major roads, shopping centers, and other destinations, necessitating a stronger police presence to ensure security.
Alongside the increase in the number of people in crowded areas, a rise in crime rates such as burglary, theft, and other illegal activities is also expected.
Furthermore, the PNP is closely monitoring the potential threats from criminal and terrorist groups, especially since SUMVAC 2025 coincides with the campaign period, elections, and the proclamation of winning candidates in the National and Local Elections (NLE).
In response to these challenges, the PNP will deploy 40,151 personnel across the country under the Enhanced Operational Concept of Managing Police Operations (E-MPO) Strategy, which emphasizes heightened police visibility, patrol operations, and coordination with different government agencies and local authorities.
Police Assistance Desks will also be stationed at transport hubs, tourist spots, and other crowded areas to provide immediate assistance to the public.
Additionally, law enforcement operations will be strengthened to curb any criminal activities, while security at vital facilities, transport terminals, and places of worship will be enhanced through intelligence monitoring and thorough security inspections.
Moreover, stringent traffic management and road safety measures will be implemented to ease traffic flow and avoid road accidents.
PNP Chief PGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil assured the public of the police's readiness to uphold peace and order across the country.
“Habang pinaghahandaan natin ang Summer Vacation 2025, sinisiguro ng PNP ang kaligtasan ng ating mamamayan. Ang ating mga kapulisan ay naka-deploy at handang rumesponde sa anumang sitwasyon upang mapanatili ang kapayapaan at kaayusan," said Marbil.
He then urged the public to stay vigilant, cooperate with the authorities, and immediately report any suspicious activity.
The PNP reminds all travelers to make sure their homes are properly secured before departure, stay vigilant of their surroundings, and follow safety guidelines in crowded areas.
