A young man was arrested over allegedly harassing and threatening a woman using explicit videos in Nueva Ecija on Saturday.
Alias “Randy,” 22, was captured in an entrapment operation led by the Nueva Ecija Provincial Cyber Response Team at 10:20 p.m. on June 21, in Cabanatuan City.
The suspect has been charged for violations of Articles 286, or Grave Coercion, and 315, for Estafa or Swindling, of the Revised Penal Code, Republic Act (RA) No. 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009), and RA No. 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004)—all in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
“Using intimate content to threaten or exploit others is a grave offense. The PNP ACG (Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group) remains firm in its mission to protect victims and ensure that abusers are held accountable. We urge everyone to speak out, report these crimes, and help break the cycle of online harassment,” Acting Director of the PNP ACG Brig. Gen. Bernard R. Yang said.
The PNP ACG dealt with a case of ‘sextortion’ on the same day, an entrapment operation resulting in the arrest of alias “Yana,” 39, who was blackmailing a man with explicit videos and photos.
