Atty. Hubert Dominic Guevara, the former senior deputy executive secretary under the Office of the President, passed away on Thursday, March 29. He was 57.
In a Facebook post, the Office of the President announced the passing of Guevara, acknowledging his "spirit, dedication, and exemplary service to the Filipino people."
"He will remain fondly in the memory of all who had the privilege of working with him and calling him a friend," the statement read.
On February 29, the Presidential Communications Office announced the return of Guevara, who was appointed to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as one of four commissioners at the helm of the corporate watchdog.
Guevara was a partner at ACALaw before he became the head of the SEC's compliance and enforcement department in 2004.
According to the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, Guevara acted as both President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.'s legal advisor and contributed P1 million to his 2022 campaign.
