Former Camarines Sur Representative Rolando "Nonoy" Andaya passed away on Thursday morning, his family confirmed.
"With deep grief and sadness, we announce the untimely death of our father... We request for your fervent prayers for his eternal repose, and to allow us, his family, to grieve privately our loss," his family said in a Facebook post on Thursday afternoon.
The family did not provide any details on Andaya's cause of death.
But an initial report from the Police Regional Office Region 5 said he was found dead in his bedroom, stating that he may have killed himself.
Andaya ran for the gubernatorial post in Camarines Sur at the recent May polls under Nationalist People’s Coalition but was defeated by Luigi Villafuerte, son of Camarines Sur second district reelectionist Rep. Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte.
He previously served as House Majority Floor Leader and Budget secretary.
