Filipino pole vaulter and world number 3, Ernest John Obiena, finished in joint third place at the Lausanne Diamond League in Switzerland on Thursday (Philippine time).

Obiena successfully cleared 5.82 meters on his first attempt to place third, tying with Norway's Sondre Guttormsen and Australia's Kurtis Marschall. All three had no failed attempts in their previous clearances.

The 28-year old pole vaulter first cleared 5.62 meters, he then skipped 5.72 meters, after which, he successfully cleared 5.82 meters. He attempted to reach 5.92 meters but failed in all three attempts.

World number 1 and Olympic gold medalist Mondo Duplantis continues to break records and make history after clinching the first place by clearing 6.15 meters.

Furthermore, world number 2 and Olympic silver medalist Sam Kendricks from the USA came in second with a height of 5.92 meters.

Obiena is expected to return to action at the Silesia leg in Poland, scheduled on August 25.
