The Bangsamoro Darul Ifta has announced that Eid'l Fitr, also known as the Feast of Breaking the Fast for Islam believers, will be celebrated on Saturday, April 22.
This announcement came after the Muslim advisory council conducted moon sightings in various parts of the country and confirmed that the crescent moon was not sighted for Friday evening.
The council had dispatched moon sighting teams to strategic locations, equipped with technical knowledge and equipment.
The sighting of the moon crescent is crucial in determining the start of the new lunar month of Shawwal, which marks the end of Ramadan or the month-long fasting for Islamic believers that began on March 23.
Meanwhile, the Palace has declared Friday, April 21, as a holiday for the observance of Eid'l Fitr.
