The Bangsamoro Government, through Chief Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua, expressed solidarity with the entire Filipino nation in commemorating the 127th Philippine Independence Day, recognizing the sacrifices made by the country’s heroes in the struggle for freedom.
In his official Independence Day message released on June 12, Chief Minister Macacua emphasized that for the Bangsamoro people, the celebration is not just a remembrance of history but also a continuation of their collective struggle for self-determination.
"We didn’t just inherit this freedom. We fought for it our way through generations of pain, courage, and hope," Macacua stated.
"Our autonomy is part of that larger story. And now, it's our responsibility to protect it and make it real in the lives of our people."
The Chief Minister also noted that this year's celebration comes just weeks after the May 12 elections. He thanked all who participated and called on the Bangsamoro people to move past political divisions and work together for the common good.
"The campaign season is over. It’s time to deliver. The road ahead won't be easy. But together with sincerity, respect, and a clear vision, we can build a Bangsamoro that’s peaceful, just, and free in the truest sense," he said.
Macacua urged citizens not to take Independence Day for granted, but to reflect on the struggles of the past and the continuing efforts needed to secure freedom and justice.
"Mabuhay ang Bangsamoro. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas," he concluded.
The message was released from Cotabato City on June 12, which also coincides with the 16th of Dhul-Hijjah 1446 in the Islamic calendar.
