Philippine Army Chief Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete has directed soldiers of the 6th Infantry “Kampilan” Division (6ID) to ensure the peaceful and credible conduct of the first-ever Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) elections during his visit to Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat on August 19, 2025.
Nafarrete underscored the critical role of the Armed Forces in safeguarding the October polls.
“Our objective is singular: That is to secure the elections, suppress threats, and maintain peace. To all personnel, remember that we remain non-partisan at all times,” Nafarrete said.
He urged soldiers to give their full commitment to the task, highlighting that the BARMM elections mark a historic milestone for democratic governance in the region.
“As we prepare for the upcoming BARMM Elections, let us exert every effort to ensure that this historic exercise remains peaceful, fair, and fully compliant with our existing laws and regulations. May this significant event serve as a lasting example for future generations that rivalry can be resolved through democratic means, without harm, without fear, and always in the spirit of peace,” he added
Additional support troops from the 1st and 11th Infantry Divisions will also be deployed to secure polling areas across Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Tawi-Tawi, and Cotabato City.
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has set the election period and gun ban in BARMM from August 14 to October 28, 2025.
