The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), in collaboration with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and the Metro Manila Council, is gearing up for the expected heavy traffic when the rehabilitation of EDSA commences.

In a press briefing on Thursday, MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes announced that they have presented intervention measures to Metro Manila mayors, specifically concerning the traffic management plan in light of the anticipated traffic build-up.

This is also part of the ongoing plans for the EDSA rehabilitation, which are expected to be announced next week.

Moreover, transportation secretary Vince Dizon assured that the EDSA overhaul is being carefully planned to alleviate the struggles of commuters and motorists.

"Hindi biro itong proyektong ito. Kaya kailangang planuhin ng tama, planuhin ng maigi. Kailangan talaga ang focus natin is ma-minimize ang aberya sa ating mga motorista atsaka sa ating mga commuter," said Dizon.

In connection with this, Dizon confirmed that MRT operations will remain operational, and a designated lane for the bus carousel will be part of the upcoming plans to be announced next week.

The project is scheduled to begin in April and is expected to run for approximately one and a half years.
