DHSUD calls on typhoon victims to utilize 'integraded disaster shelter assistance' efficiently
by Mary Antalan20 November 2024

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) is appealing to those affected by the recent typhoons to utilize the Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP) efficiently.

The IDSAP is a new initiative by DHSUD aimed at providing financial aid to typhoon victims whose homes were destroyed.

According to DHSUD Undersecretary Randy Escolango, families whose houses were totally destroyed by any calamity will receive P30,000 each, while those with partially damaged homes will receive P10,000.

Escolango emphasized that the amount is a "rare opportunity" for affected individuals, adding that the government has allocated P200 million this year to help address the housing needs of typhoon victims.

Aside from the financial assistance, the DHSUD will also provide construction materials for rebuilding homes under the Housing Materials and Essentials (HOMES) program.

These assistance can be claimed by the head of the household, who should approach their local municipal housing board to register and have their name added to the master list of beneficiaries. This list is part of the Local Government Unit’s requirements for IDSAP, along with a disaster report and certificate of eligibility.

The DHSUD assured that the area doesn't need to be in a state of calamity to be part of the program.

Escolango also emphasized that the list of beneficiaries will be thoroughly validated.

"Kung hindi po isinama ang inyong pangalan, maaari kayong magsadya sa tanggapan ng DHSUD," he said.
