Following a recent Cabinet revamp, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. administered the oath of office to Engr. Jose Ramon P. Aliling as the new Secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on Thursday, May 29, at Malacañang Palace.
Aliling officially succeeded former DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino “Jerry” Acuzar, who has been appointed Presidential Adviser for Pasig River Development, following the acceptance of his courtesy resignation on May 23.
The leadership change is part of a broader performance evaluation initiative undertaken by the Marcos administration to ensure continued efficiency and accountability within the Cabinet.
Aliling, a seasoned engineer and construction management expert, also serves as the president and CEO of the Jose Aliling Construction Management Group, a company founded by his father in 2003.
Prior to his appointment, he held the position of DHSUD undersecretary from September 2022 to May 2025, overseeing construction management, engineering, and technical operations of the department’s major initiatives.
He played a key role in leading flagship projects such as the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program and the “Bigyang Buhay Muli” Pasig River Revitalization Project.
Meanwhile, President Marcos also administered the oath of office to Darlene Marie Berberabe, appointing her as the new Solicitor General in the same ceremony.
