The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) is currently conducting an investigation after learning that four of its web-based systems were victimized by a cyberattack.
"The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) confirms that four (4) of its web-based systems were attacked and compromised yesterday, June 16, 2024," MARINA said in its press release on Monday.
MARINA said officials and employees who are concerned with the data breach were immediately deployed at the central office to ensure systems' protection.
"The MARINA Information Technology (IT) team, with the assistance of the Department of Information and Communications Technology-Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (DICT-CICC), is currently conducting an investigation as well as accelerating its efforts to mitigate the data breach," the Maritme authority said.
MARINA said it hopes to resume operations by Tuesday, June 18, while ensuring cyber security protocols to prevent any future cyberattack.
