The Department of Health (DOH) reminded the public to avoid driving after drinking alcohol, especially during the holiday season, when liquor is usually served at parties.

“Karamihan ng mga nai-injure sa road, two-wheeler. Hindi magkasama talaga (ang pag-inom at pag-drive). Talagang huwag kayong iinom at sasakay ng motorsiklo niyo,” Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa urged. “Ito ‘yung number one case namin: road crashes.”

(Most of those injured on the road are on two-wheelers. Drinking and driving really do not go together. Do not drink and drive your motorcycle. This is our number one case: road crashes.)

He advised that a designated driver be assigned when attending parties: someone who knows how to drive and will not drink alcoholic beverages.
