The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) has approved the ₱1,000 increase in the minimum wage of kasambahays or domestic workers in CALABARZON, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has recently announced.
In a news release posted on its official website on Saturday, February 3, DOLE said the increase was stipulated under Wage Order No. RB-IVA-DW-04 approved by the RTWPB last January 31.
The hike will now bring kasambahay's monthly minimum wage rate to ₱6,000 from ₱5,000 in cities and first-class municipalities in CALABARZON.
In other municipalities in the region, meanwhile, the minimum wage will rise from ₱4,000 to ₱5,000.

According to DOLE, the wage hike underwent "consultation and public hearing, as well as the needs of domestic workers and their families, the employer’s capacity to pay and the existing socio-economic conditions in the region."
The new minimum wage will take effect on February 19, the labor department noted.
