The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded 118 incidents of heat exhaustion in March alone.
In a press briefing on Tuesday, DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said of this number, 33 were students from four high schools in Valenzuela.
The remaining 85 were high school students of Gulod National High School-Mamatid Extension in Cabuyao City, Laguna.
"For now, wala pa tayong na-report na severe o kaya 'yung mga naging critical dahil dito. Kung sila man ay nadala sa hospital, sila ay binigyan ng first aid o karampatang lunas at pinauwi na rin pagkatapos," Vergeire noted.
Meanwhile, the DOH OIC reminded the public to take necessary measures against COVID-19 this Holy Week.
"Wala na tayong restrictions. Maari naman magbakasyon, wala naman limitasyon at maari naman makasama ng ating kababayan ang kanilang pamilya. Ang ating ay paalala na sana alam natin how we protect ourselves," she said.
"Kailangan lamang alam natin kailan mag-mask. Kapag maraming tao, let's choose to wear mask at saka sympre, sana bakundo tayo lahat," Vergeire added.
