The Department of Health (DOH) stated that reliable sources do not currently support the circulating social media posts regarding an alleged international health concern.
In its public advisory on Friday, the agency noted that there is no confirmation provided by either the alleged affected country or the World Health Organization (WHO).
"The Philippines through the Department of Health (DOH) is an active participant in the network of WHO Member States that follow the International Health Regulations (IHR)," the advisory read.
"This established system is what gives reliable updates about international health concerns," it added.
The agency further assured that the Philippine disease surveillance systems are in place and functioning.
Furthermore, the DOH is actively verifying all information and will provide updates to the public.
"Please do not share questionable websites or online sources. Let us not spread misinformation and confusion," the advisory read.
In a report by RH Boy Gonzales, it was stated that the DOH will not issue a statement regarding the circulating reports about the alleged virus outbreak in China, as no official statement has been made by the WHO.
According to DOH Spokesperson Asec. Albert Domingo, the DOH's statement will depend on whether the WHO issues an official declaration.
Previously, alleged reports of an outbreak spreading across several provinces of China have circulated on social media, with sources citing a surge of patients in hospitals.
Videos posted online show overcrowded hospitals and crematoriums, with some users claiming that multiple viruses, including influenza A, HMPV, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and COVID-19, are currently circulating.
