The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday said it has allocated Php 31 million worth of aid for regions that were severely affected by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng.
In its latest situational report, the DOH said Php 31,063,736 worth of assorted medicines, medical supplies, and other commodities were already mobilized to Regions 1, 2, 3, 4A, 4B, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, Caraga Region, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and National Capital Region (NCR).
The aid was distributed through the Centers for Health Development (CHD) in coordination with local government units.
Additionally, the health department said there are also Php 72,803,656 worth of commodities prepositioned at its Central Office Warehouse and available for distribution.
In a statement, Health officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said the DOH’s disaster response was ready prior to the landfall of Paeng as they expected that thousands of communities would be affected.
"That is why millions of resources and other commodities were already pre-positioned to different CHDs to be deployed when needed,” she added.
Apart from this, she said they deployed human resources for health to evacuation centers nationwide to conduct screening and triage of evacuees, as well as provide services like health, nutrition, medical, psychosocial, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
