Direct assault charges loom over Honeylet Avanceña, former President Rodrigo Duterte’s common-law wife after a female Special Action Force (SAF) personnel was injured.
This was announced by the Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Brigadier General Jean Fajardo in a press conference at Camp Crame on Thursday, March 13. Fajardo earlier clarified that all protocols were properly followed by their personnel during the day of Duterte’s arrest.
However, the report by RH 52 Edniel Parrosa indicated that Fajardo revealed that one of the PNP’s personnel was rushed to the hospital after Avanceña pounded her phone onto a female personnel’s forehead.
Fajardo mentioned that the personnel had been released from the hospital and is now prepared to file direct assault charges against Avanceña.
In an earlier statement, Fajardo said they have evidence to prove that Avanceña did pound her phone onto a SAF personnel.
“Mayroon po tayong mga video na magpapatunay na pinukpok po ni Ms Honeylet yung isang pulis po natin na babae. Nung sila po ang ang-restrain doon po kay ma’am Honeylet at doon po sa kanilang anak [Kitty Duterte],” she said.
In a subsequent post, the PNP Public Information Office (PIO) shared the video clip of the incident as the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) was arresting the former president.
