Proper protocols were met by the arresting officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during former President Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest on Tuesday, the PNP Spokesperson PBGen. Jean Fajardo said.
In RH 52 Edniel Parrosa’s report on Thursday, the PNP spokesperson addressed what went down on the day Duterte was arrested. Speaking at a press conference at Camp Crame, Fajardo asserted that no protocols were violated by the officers led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) PMGen. Nicolas Torre III.
“Wala pong nasaktan doon for the record po. Sa side po nila, wala pong nasaktan, wala pong nag complain sa kanila na nasaktan,” Fajardo assured.
In contrast, Fajardo stated they were the ones who were hurt and cursed at by the former president’s camp.
“In fact, ang nasaktan po ay doon po sa side ng PNP,” she began.
“Mayroon po tayong mga video na magpapatunay na pinukpok po ni Ms Honeylet yung isang pulis po natin na babae. Nung sila po ang ang-restrain doon po kay ma’am Honeylet at doon po sa kanilang anak [Kitty Duterte],” she added.
Fajardo was pertaining to the incident where Duterte's common-law wife, Honeylet Avanceña pounded her phone onto a female Special Action Force (SAF) personnel. The SAF personnel was later rushed to the hospital.
Fajardo also assured that Duterte was given medical check-ups, adding that his vital signs were normal before boarding the plane to the Hague in the Netherlands. The PNP also granted their camp’s request, like the extension for the ultimatum from Torre.
On another note, Fajardo pointed out how tensed everyone was on the day of the arrest. The PNP officers were also sweating profusely.
“We don’ want to discredit po yung nag post po noon. Ang pagpupunas po ng pawis ay they’re just making it appear na lumuluha po yung mga pulis natin,” she said.
