The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has distributed 56 fire trucks worth ₱14 million each to the local government units (LGUs) in different regions.

In a news release on Monday, DILG said the fire trucks were turned over to the local chief executives and representatives from the LGUs of Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and Northern Mindanao, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARM), National Capital Region (NCR), and Caraga.

The agency said each firetruck has complete equipment set, including firefighter’s Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA); fire fighting hoses and nozzles; foam generating nozzle with alcohol-resistant aqueous film forming foam (AFFF); and other firefighting operation tools and accessories.

“Tuloy-tuloy po ang pagpapalawig natin sa kakayanan at kakayahan ng ating mga firefighters to realize the Bureau’s vision to of a modern fire service fully capable of ensuring a fire-safe nation by 2034," DILG Secretary Benjamin ‘Benhur’ Abalos Jr., who led the turnover ceremony, said.

"With the modern equipment we are providing our BFP, let us remember that our equipment is only as effective as the individual who runs it,” he added.

Abalos bared that the interior department plans to procure 63 more units of 1000-gallon capacity fire trucks and other modern equipment this year.
