Senator Imee Marcos posted a short video on Facebook to denounce the worsening state of corruption in government, comparing officials to “crocodiles” that must be caught and punished.
“Naku, padami ng padami ang mga crocodile. May nagpadala naman ng buwaya, nakahuli daw sila ng pagkalaki-laki,” Marcos stated in her video.
The senator stressed the need for accountability, saying those addicted to corruption must face the full force of the law.
"Dapat hulihin lahat, dapat puksain dapat parusahan. Makulong ang lahat ng lulong," she added.
Timing of the statement
Marcos’s remarks come as the government faces mounting pressure over alleged anomalous flood control projects and broader corruption scandals under investigation by both the Senate and House of Representatives.
Her use of the term “crocodiles” echoes a long-standing Filipino metaphor for corrupt public officials who enrich themselves at the expense of ordinary citizens.
The post quickly gained traction online, with netizens echoing calls for a stronger crackdown on corruption. Some lauded Marcos for the call out, while some are also linking it to her being biased from his brother President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s administration.
