Students of Cavite State University - Main Campus, CvSueños, gathered on Monday, January 23, to lit candles just hours after a vehicular accident inside the campus took the life of one student and left four others with serious physical injuries.
In a video uploaded on Facebook from John Russel Buenavente through CvSU Imu Campus' student publication The Flare", the students offer their prayer and solemnly sang the CvSU hymn in memory of their fellow CvSueño's death during the candle lighting vigil in front of the Laya't Diwa statue.
Moreover, the University administration suspended the examination's week to pay respect to the victim and her family.
Elaiza Gerielle Tesoro, 18, a BS Biology student passed away after being bumped by a truck while preparing for the upcoming examination.
While four other students identified as Fiona Gatchalian, Denise Chloe Ricohermoso, Pauline Diga, and Angelo Magno were seriously injured and now admitted to General Emilio Aguinaldo Medical Hospital.
Based on police reports, the five students were peacefully sitting at the ladder part of the swimming pool at Saluysoy Resort located inside the campus while reading their books when an ELF truck suddenly crashed towards them.
Suspect Federico Baculan admitted that he forgot to put a wedge on the truck's wheels while on park at the outpost area.
Meanwhile, the University Guidance Counselor announced that they are open for pyschological assistance, particularly to students who witnessed the traumatic incident.
