A student was dead on the spot while four others were hurt after an ELF truck crashed into a portion of Saluysoy Resort in Cavite State University-Main Campus in Indang, Cavite on Monday, January 23.

According to Police Senior Master Sergeant Nimuell Ace Ferrera, the four other pedestrian victims experienced serious physical injuries and were urgently admitted to General Emilio Aguinaldo Hospital located nearby the city.

In the initial investigation from Indang Municipal Station (Indang IPS), the suspect Federico Baculan forgot to put a wedge on the truck's wheels while on park at the outpost area.

The truck rolled towards the ladder parts of the swimming pool and bumped all the victims who were seating while reading books in preparation for their final examination.

Moreover, the pedestrian victims are all first-year students named Elaiza Gerielle Tesoro, Fiona Gatchalian, Denise Chloe Ricohermoso, Pauline Diga, and Angelo Magno, one of them died on the spot while others were admitted to a nearby hospital.

The suspect is now under the custody of Indang MPS for further investigation.

Meanwhile, CvSU Main Campus' Central Student Government (CSG) urged the public to refrain from sharing photos of the incident on social media to pay respect to the victim's family and prevent secondary trauma to the other four who witnessed the fatal accident.

A statement was issued by the campus administration, saying that they are deeply saddened by the tragedy which involved five students from the Bachelor of Science in Biology program, and asked for prayers for the respective families and the whole CvSU community who are going through difficult times.

The CSG called out the instructors, professors, and the Academic Affairs unit of the university for an immediate suspension of the final examinations this week.

For the students who witnessed the traumatic incident were told to reach out to the University Guidance Counselor for psychological assistance.
